Reason for volunteering as a Board of Trustees member: After retiring, I wanted to do community service. With 14 years as a school librarian, I thought the library board would be a good fit.
Favorite library service: I have always been an avid reader. So access to unlimited books is why I love libraries.
Craig Mancuso
Vice-President
High School Science Teacher
Board member since 2003
Term ends 2030
cmancuso@smfpl.org
Reason for volunteering as a Board of Trustees member: I believe the library plays a vital role in our community.
Favorite library service: Our library has so much to offer, but my favorite library service is still the books. I love to read, and if we had to pay for all the books my daughter reads we'd be broke.
David R. Renninger
Secretary
Retired Nationwide Insurance agent
Board member since 2004
Term ends 2024
Reason for volunteering as a Board of Trustees member: I have always been a strong believer that people who can read well will have a better chance of success in their career. Libraries are the main source of encouraging reading skills. A library is a primary source of programming for all ages.
Favorite library service: Children’s programming is one of the services I am most proud of, and our Children’s department is extremely successful In making this known to the community.
Richard P. Bedell, CPA
Certified Public Accountant and President, Bedell CFO Services
Board member since 2016

Reason for volunteering as a Board of Trustees member: It’s a privilege to serve this great community asset.
Favorite library service: Access to so many online books through CLEVENET.
Angela J. Daniel
City of Akron Employee
Board member since 2019
Term ends 2025
adaniel@smfpl.org
Reason for volunteering as a Board of Trustees member: I volunteer as a Board of Trustee because I love reading! You can go anyplace at any time with a good book.
Fun fact: Many, many years ago while I was attending graduate school at Kent State, I worked at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library as a part-time shelver. This was before the addition of the new library (as it is today). Because of my school schedule, I was the last to arrive in the evenings so I always got the squeaky cart!
Favorite library service: It’s hard to choose what my favorite thing is about the library since there are so many great services. When my son was young, I took him to Story Time and Touch-A-Truck. I enjoy hearing new speakers, especially local authors. With the addition of ClevNet, there are so many wonderful items available. And of course, you will see me at the book sales!
Carla Wyckoff
Retired from Kent State University as Director, Communications and Special Projects
Board member since 2022
Term ends 2026
cwyckoff@smfpl.org
Also serves on the Foundation Board as the Trustee liaison
Reason for volunteering as a Board of Trustees member: Libraries have become more than just a place to go for books. As a resident of Stow for more than 20 years I have seen how the library has grown and enhanced its services to the community, and I am proud to have the opportunity to be a part of its vision for the future.
Favorite library service: It is hard to pick just one but personally I enjoy the large selection of audiobooks available for free downloads. Listening to those keeps me entertained while I’m out walking.
Emily B. Hegner
Branch Manager at the Portage County District Library
Board member since 2022
Term ends 2028
ehegner@smfpl.org
Reason for volunteering as a Board of Trustees member: I volunteer to be on the board because I think it's essential to be involved in your community.
Favorite library service: All of it. The library is one of the greatest community resources. It is one of the few places left where people can exist without the expectation of spending money. We provide resources for people in crisis, early literacy opportunities for children, and help people learn new skills. If you made me pick just one service, it would be our outreach services. Being able to go into the community and serve people who may not otherwise be able to get to the library is wonderful.
